Have you ever dreamed about building your own guitar?
Did you ever want to learn how a guitar is crafted and wanted to attempt it yourself?
The Builder’s Workshop is a one-on-one hands-on experience in which you build your very own custom acoustic guitar. In addition to owning your own guitar, you’ll also have a true understanding of the building process. Hundreds of people from all across the country have experienced these courses over the years.
The 3 day introductory course uses fully serviced materials and is a great starting point to learn basic guitar construction. In this course you’ll learn about rim sanding, installing ribbon, bracing the back and top, and setting the neck for correct playability. You’ll also install a single binding, and simple logo of your choice on the headstock. Includes 18:1 tuning machines and a soft case for $1,300. This is a great experience for young people with an adult.
In the 6 day advanced course you’ll start with side bending and then move through the entire building process at a deeper level. This includes bracing, rim sanding, installation of top and back, and a much higher level of marquetry. You’ll also inlay your headstock and fingerboard, install frets, and shape the neck. All materials are solid, high-quality. Options for tonewood choices and tops are available at additional cost, as well as electronics. This course can be challenging but is extremely rewarding for those who are up for the challenge. The base course is $3,200.
The Master Class is for those who want to take this to the highest level possible. It involves a much deeper look into each step. More time is spent on hand-carving braces, and attention to the finest details. These guitars include cutaway body shapes. You’ll also spend a fair amount of time cutting and inlaying marquetry. This course runs for 2 weeks and costs $7,600.
Courses run full-time throughout the year. Please call for scheduling. Lodging is available on site or in the newly built Comfort Inn.
These courses are designed to give you a hands-on experience in guitar building, and you’ll be guided each step of the way as you craft your very own guitar. These are high quality guitars with incredible tone and sound. Extensive wood working skills are not required, but the willingness to follow instructions and try new things is a plus. This is a relaxed atmosphere and I’ll be with you every step of the journey.
